XXI Century Investments wins Ukrainian H&H Webranking
The results from H&H Webranking Ukraine are now published in the financial newspaper Companion.
For the second consecutive year H&H Webranking includes Ukraine in its yearly European survey of corporate websites. Six Ukrainian corporate websites have been ranked in this year’s Ukrainian survey. The survey shows that Ukrainian companies have strengthen their ambition in their online communication, but are still a bit behind their Western European peers.

The real estate developer XXI Century Investments wins the 2008 Ukrainian ranking for the second year in a row, with a score of 48.25 out of a maximum of 100 points. XXI Century Investments thereby increases 2007’s result with a massive 20.25 points (from last year’s 28 points) and manages to defend its top position in Ukraine. XXI Century Investments is followed by the iron producer Ferrexpo with 34.75 points and the telecommunication company Ukrtelecom with 22 points.

Robin Olenius, one of the researchers at Hallvarsson & Halvarsson that has conducted the Ukrainian survey, comments: “XXI Century has made great improvements since last year and wins because they manage to produce a corporate website that is comparable with overall European standards. XXI Century gives a pleasant first impression when you visit the website. The company presents links to important and highly valued information, uses a clear and understandable navigation and contains very good contact information.”

Even though XXI Century’s corporate website is a strong performer, the results in the Ukrainian survey shows that Ukrainian companies in general are a bit behind the European average. Some Ukrainian companies present very little information in English while other companies present too little or even insufficient information about share performance, financial information, corporate governance and corporate social responsibility. These are areas that have increased their level of importance according to this year’s H&H Webranking survey.

Eastern European Markets 2008

Larger Eastern European companies, especially in Russia, are seeking foreign investors and capital and are therefore beginning to adapt to European standards of online corporate communication. The Russian average score of 34.7 is therefore much higher than the Ukrainian score with only 23.7 points.

A handful of larger Russian companies are for instance dominating the Eastern European H&H Webranking. However, these Russian companies also still have some work ahead in order to match up to their Western European peers, which is quite surprising since these companies are some of the largest in Europe and are closely followed and analyzed by many investors, analysts and journalists from all over the world.

Europe outlook
Ukrainian companies are unfortunately, as mentioned, somewhat below the European average, 23.7 compared to 51.2, which is the total European average. Hopefully this is a trend that is about to change since more and more companies actively requests to be included in the H&H Webranking survey.
